About the scheme

Key locations on the A13 London Road in Hadleigh have been identified for carriageway machine surfacing improvements.  This wil be carried out between the A129 Rayleigh Road Roundabout towards Rectory Road, affecting only vehicles travelling in an easterly direction.

This will involve planing off the existing surface and removal of this material from site. The planed area will have the manholes and gullies adjusted and replaced if required. A bitumen spray coat will then be applied and the new surfacing laid. The surfacing will consist of either one or two separate layers, dependent on the shape and condition of the underlying road structure. This is a more substantial, deeper new surface than some other treatments.

To minimise disruption to the drivers, these works will be carried out over overnight, with restrictions lifted during the daytime.

What is involved and how it may affect you

Overnight traffic restrictions including temporary road closures will be required between the hours of 8pm and 5am for vehicles.

This will affect vehicles travelling in an easterly direction on the A13 London Road only (from the A129 Rayleigh Road Roundabout towards Rectory Road). Appropriate diversions will be in place during these times.

Vehicles travelling in a westerly direction on the A13 High Street towards the A129 will remain unaffected by our works.

Access into Morrisons' car park from the London Road will be available until 8pm on nights that a road closure is scheduled. The supermarket’s exit point on New Road will remain unrestricted.

To avoid costly disruption to our work some temporary ‘No Parking’ restrictions will be in place on London Road to allow surfacing activities to take place without obstruction. Please refrain from parking in these areas.

Pedestrian access will remain unaffected by our works.
